Here are the top ten ways to beat the heat:

1. Stay Hydrated: Make sure to stay hydrated during your visit by drinking ample amounts of water all day long. You can make use of water fountains or purchase bottled water, and think about having a reusable water bottle with you. Keep in mind the high humidity levels in Florida that can catch you off guard. It's a good idea to pack electrolyte beverages as well. Jess recommends trying the Pedialyte electrolyte packets as they are convenient to carry around, mix into your water, and provide a tasty twist to your beverages.

2. Use Cooling Towels: Bring cooling towels or purchase them at the park. They can help you beat the heat by providing a refreshingly cool sensation when you wet them, wring them out, and place them around your neck to stay cool throughout your magical day at the park.

3. Visit Indoor Attractions: Take breaks in air-conditioned attractions, shows, and restaurants. Indoor rides like "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "Spaceship Earth" offer cool respites. Check out our guide for places to beat the heat.

Where to Beat the Heat:

When visiting Disney World in hot weather, there are numerous places to cool off and enjoy some water-based fun. At Magic Kingdom, Tiana's Bayou offers a refreshing splash to your day, while the Splash 'n' Soak area near Dumbo in Fantasy Land provides a playful escape from the heat. For additional water adventures, the two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, offer a variety of water slides, wave pools, and lazy rivers to keep you cool throughout the day. In Epcot, Moana's Journey of Water is a great attraction to experience some water play, along with the liquid layer splash pad that allows guests to cool down while having fun.

4. Wear Lightweight Clothing: Dress in light, breathable fabrics and consider wearing a hat or visor to shield your face from the sun. A popular choice for women and girls are the skirts with athletic shorts underneath. They often come with pockets and are sweat wicking.

5. Apply Sunscreen Regularly: Use a high-SPF sunscreen and reapply it throughout the day to prevent sunburn, which can make you feel even hotter. Wearing sunscreen is crucial for protecting your skin from harmful UV rays, especially during the peak hours between 10 am and 4 pm when the sun is strongest. It is essential to apply sunscreen on babies as their skin can burn within 10 minutes of sun exposure. Even on overcast days, about 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate through clouds. Remember to reapply sunscreen every 80 minutes to ensure continuous protection from the sun's damaging effects.

6. Utilize Mist Stations: Take advantage of the misting stations scattered throughout the parks to cool down quickly. The kids will love some of options such as Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station in Fantastland near Dumbo.

7. Visit Water Rides: Enjoy water attractions like "Splash Mountain" or "Kali River Rapids" to get a refreshing splash.

8. Seek Shade: Look for shaded areas, especially during the peak sun hours from 11 AM to 3 PM. It is essential to protect yourself from the intense sun by utilizing umbrellas or seeking shelter under shaded benches when taking breaks from exploring the park.

9. Take Afternoon Breaks: Consider taking a break in the middle of the day to relax at your hotel or find a nearby indoor spot to cool off from the heat. You can then come back to the park later in the afternoon when the weather becomes more bearable.

10. Use Fans: Bring a portable fan or purchase one of the battery-operated misting fans available in the parks to keep a cool breeze on you at all times. By following these tips, you can ensure your visit to Disney World is enjoyable and comfortable, no matter how high the temperatures soar. Check out some of your options for fans: Neck Fans, Portable Handheld Fans, and kid specific misting spray fans.
