Exciting News for Disney Fans: Big Changes to Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane Services!

Hey there, Mouse Ears and Magical Chat listeners and blog readers! If you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World this summer, we’ve got some fantastic news to share with you. Disney is making some major updates to their Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry that will make planning your park days even easier and more fun.

Here’s What’s New:

Starting July 24, Disney is Introducing New Names: Disney Genie+ will now be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Individual Lightning Lane will be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.

What’s Changing?

Plan Ahead with Confidence: You can now make Lightning Lane plans before your trip. No more scrambling on the day of your visit!

Choose Your Experiences and Times: Select your rides and preferred times before you purchase, so you know exactly what to expect.

Multi-Day Booking: Book your Lightning Lane passes for multiple days of your vacation in one go. This means more time enjoying the parks and less time planning.

Here’s How the New Lightning Lane Passes Work:

Lightning Lane Multi Pass: When you grab a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll be able to make up to three ride selections in advance for a specific park. Plus, you can pick your times when you make these selections. Once you’ve used a selection on the day of your visit, you can hop on the My Disney Experience app to check for more availability and add another ride to your day.

Lightning Lane Single Pass: The Lightning Lane Single Pass still lets you secure a time for one of the most popular attractions, but now you can do this planning ahead of time, giving you more flexibility and peace of mind.

Advance Planning Details:

If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel or other select hotels like Shades of Green Resort or the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, you can plan your Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance for your entire stay (up to 14 days).

Other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance. These new planning windows mean you can secure those must-do rides after finalizing your dining reservations and other activities.

Buying Your Passes:

You can purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both. Disney is making the app even more user-friendly, allowing you to purchase and plan with fewer steps, and even buy both passes in one transaction.

These updates bring together the best of the current system and the old FastPass+ service, making your Disney planning smoother and more enjoyable.

And for our Disneyland Fans:

The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass names will also be adopted at Disneyland Resort starting July 24. The process for purchasing, selecting, and redeeming passes at Disneyland Resort will stay the same, but the new names will help simplify things for everyone.

Don’t Forget Disney Genie!

The free features of the Disney Genie service are still available in the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, which have also been updated to make dining reservations, mobile food ordering, and other features even easier to use.

For the Inside Scoop:

Jenny and Jess will have all the details on how to purchase, select, and use Lightning Lane passes. Happy planning, and see you at the parks!
